The passing of Captain Garth Hillier - Fulton County Sheriffs Office

On behalf of the National Joint TERT Initiative and the New York Telecommunicator Emergency Response Taskforce (NY-TERT), our heartfelt condolences to the family and co-workers of Captain Garth Hillier of the Fulton County Sheriffs Office. Captain Hillier was NY-TERT's designated point of contact for the New York Initiative. He will be missed by many. Rest in Peace Captain. - D. *CLASS ANNOUNCEMENT* NATIONAL JOINT TERT INITIATIVE (NJTI) - TELECOMMUNICATOR EMERGENCY RESPONSE TASKFORCE (TERT) NEW YORK TERT REGIONAL INSTRUCTOR “TRAIN THE TRAINER” PROGRAM SPONSORED BY: ONONDAGA COUNTY 9-1-1 – SYRACUSE, NY MAY 8TH & 9TH, 2014 8:00am to 5:00pm The New York TERT (NY-TERT) Regional Instructor “Train the Trainer” Program is designed to prepare existing TERT Team Leader’s to train and certify prospective NY-TERT candidates for deployment using the NJTI Deployment Awareness and NJTI Team Leader curriculums. NY-TERT Regional Instructor candidates should possess a background in training and/or group instruction; be comfortable presenting material in front of a variety of class sizes, and be comfortable working with and developing presentations using software and/or other digital mediums. Required: FEMA IS-144 or TERT Deployment Awareness certification – and - TERT Team Leader certification Recommended: ICS-300, ICS-400, Crisis Communications and/or CISM; Instructor Development Certification WRITTEN ENDORSEMENT FROM AN AGENCY OR DEPARTMENT HEAD IS REQUIRED FOR ALL ATTENDEES! Those interested in participating in the NY-TERT Regional Instructor “TTT” should e-mail the following items: 1) Letter of Interest: Why are you interested in becoming a NY-TERT Regional Trainer?

TERT Deployment Awareness Training Announcement: Monroe County (Rochester, NY)

The first TERT Deployment Awareness class of 2014 will be held at the Emergency Communications Department in Rochester, NY (Monroe County): pre-requisites for attendance are completion of FEMA's IS-100 and IS-700 online classes. The TERT Deployment Awareness class will be held on Tuesday April 29, 2014 from 0800-1600. Formal class announcement will follow shortly.
